Motor Pool Management

Many organizations maintain motor pool fleets to meet short-term transportation needs. Motor pools are an effective way to reduce the cost of mileage reimbursement and the size of a fleet without sacrificing customer service and asset availability. Moreover, a well-designed and effectively managed motor pool can be finically self-sustaining – or even profitable.

AbilityOne and its nonprofit partners can assist you by managing your motor pool operations to ensure you have the optimum number and mix of vehicles available to meet your employees’ needs and to balance utilization of your motor pool resources most efficiently. AbilityOne motor pool management services include:

  • Vehicle selection and purchase
  • Reservations and rental
  • Cleaning, servicing, and refueling
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Equipment disposal
  • Rental billing
  • Rate development
  • Utilization tracking and management reporting

Additionally, when necessary, AbilityOne and our NPA partners can assist in supplementing the motor pool by arranging rental services with an authorized commercial rental agency or finding specially equipped vehicles to meet specialized needs.

Shuttle Service

AbilityOne and its nonprofit partners can provide your organization with shuttle services to transport your employees within the boundaries of your facilities or to and from off-site meetings and events. Contracts can be structured to use your vans or buses while we supply drivers; other contracts may request our nonprofit partners to provide and maintain equipment as well as supply drivers.

Our NPA partners ensure all drivers have the necessary Class C licenses, clean driving records and any required drug-screening or back-ground checks. Additionally, our NPA partners will ensure drivers complete comprehensive training programs that include instructions on all aspects of the job, with special emphasis on safety and customer relations.
