FOIA Reading RoomThe Freedom of Information Act requires certain kinds of documents to be made available to the public for inspection and copying. The Electronic FOIA Amendments of 1996, Public Law, 104-231, 5 USC Section 552, require certain material created after November 1, 1996 to be placed on-line. Specific types of documents to be available in an agency's electronic reading room include, final opinions (5 USC 552 (a)(2)(A)); statements of policy and interpretation (5 USC 552 (a)(2)(B)); administrative staff manuals and instructions (5 USC 552 (a)(2)(C)); and other records of interest (5 USC 552 (a)(2)(D)). Appropriate documents are posted throughout this website to the extent that the agency has such documents.
